Soria

Soria spent his first five seasons with the Royals, emerging as a lights-out closer during that span, before spending the remainder of his lengthy career with stints in eight different organizations. The 37-year-old two-time All-Star finishes with 229 saves to go along with a sparkling 3.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 831/231 K/BB ratio across 763 innings (773 appearances) since 2007.

It’s a paperwork move after Soria missed the final week of the regular season. The veteran impending free agent struggled to a 5.06 ERA in 37 1/3 innings of relief this summer between Arizona and Toronto.

It is unknown how long the veteran reliever may be sidelined. Soria was recently activated from the family medical emergency list and carries a 5.06 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 37 1/3 innings this season. Toronto recalled Kirby Snead in a corresponding move.

The 37-year-old hurler was away from the club for a few days to tend to a family matter. He returns to a 5.06 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 40/12 K/BB ratio over 37 1/3 innings on the season.

Soria will likely be away from the team for a few days to deal with a family matter. Anthony Castro has been called up in a corresponding move to replace him on the Blue Jays’ active roster.

The veteran right-hander has been sidelined since August 4 with inflammation on his right middle finger. Soria will return to a pedestrian 4.15 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 30 1/3 innings with 32 strikeouts. The Blue Jays optioned Connor Overton to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Soria threw a bullpen session on Friday and emerged without any issues. Assuming his next throwing session goes well, there’s a chance he could be activated from the 10-day injured list to make his Blue Jays debut without needing a minor-league rehab assignment.

Soria had made just one appearance since coming over from the Diamondbacks on deadline day. The Jays will rely on Adam Cimber a little more with Soria out.

The 37-year-old right-hander will see a major dip to his fantasy value, as he’ll be relegated to a setup role rather than functioning as the primary closer like he was with the Diamondbacks. Since he’s not a major asset in ratios or strikeout, he can be jettisoned in most mixed leagues.

The Jays have made some major additions to their pitching staff in the last 24 hours, acquiring Nationals closer Brad Hand and Twins ace Jose Berrios. Now Soria, 37, adds another capable arm to their late-inning mix. He owns a 4.30 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 31/8 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings and recorded six saves for the D’Backs.
