    José Váldez has signed with the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
    Váldez last appeared in the majors with the Giants back in 2018. The 31-year-old right-hander spent time in the Mexican League prior to signing in Taiwan with the CTBC Brothers last year.

    Valdez, who turns 24 in March, had a 2.74 ERA, 33 saves and a 67/34 K/BB ratio over 49 1/3 innings this past season between Class A West Michigan and High-A Lakeland. His control is a work in progress, but he throws in the mid-90s with his fastball.

    Valdez was designated for assignment by Detroit on June 1 to clear a 40-man roster spot for Bobby Parnell. The right-hander had an ugly 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 16/12 K/BB ratio in 20 innings of relief this season between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo.

    The Angels acquired Valdez from the Tigers in exchange for cash considerations. Detroit designated him for assignment at the start of June. Prior to the trade, the 26-year-old right-hander held a 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 16/12 K/BB ratio across 20 innings while pitching out of the bullpen at Double-A and Triple-A in the Tigers system.
