Josh Rutledge was removed from Sunday’s game with a left quad injury.
This isn’t a new injury. Rutledge was pinch-hit for in the fifth inning and should be considered day-to-day. The Rockies are without Michael Cuddyer (oblique) and Carlos Gonzalez (bereavement list) and may need to make another move. Eric Young Jr. (intercostal strain) was also removed from the game.

Josh Rutledge (quad) is not in Monday’s lineup.
Rutledge left Sunday’s game due to a lingering quad injury. He’ll likely have to miss a few days. Jonathan Herrera is starting in his place at shortstop on Monday while D.J. LeMahieu plays second base.

Josh Rutledge had a night to remember on Friday, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI in a victory over the Phillies.
The 23-year-old rookie shortstop laced the second pitch he saw off Cliff Lee for an RBI double to center field in the second inning. After singling in his second at-bat, he picked up another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. He wasn’t done yet though, as he walked in his fourth plate appearance in the seventh inning and promptly stole second base. He was hitting .304 with 13 homers and 14 steals in 87 games at Double-A Tulsa and could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues if he receives everyday at-bats.

Rockies purchased the contract of INF Josh Rutledge from Double-A Tulsa.
The Rockies have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but Todd Helton is expected to be placed on the disabled list. Rutledge, 23, was hitting .306/.338/.508 with 13 home runs, 35 RBI and an .846 OPS in 87 games with Double-A Tulsa this season. He’ll function as middle infield depth.
  • NYY Shortstop #12
Troy Tulowitzki (groin) may be done for the year.
Tulo was only supposed to miss 6-8 weeks after having groin surgery in June, but he has yet to begin any sort of baseball-related activities and the out-of-contention Rockies aren’t going to push it. Josh Rutledge will continue to handle Colorado’s starting shortstop gig.
  • MLB Center Fielder #28
Dexter Fowler (ankle) was scratched from Friday’s lineup against the Padres.
Fowler is apparently still having issues with a recent ankle injury. Tyler Colvin will take his place in center field while Josh Rutledge will bat leadoff.

Josh Rutledge (quad) flew out as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
Rutledge hadn’t played since Sunday due to a lingering quad injury. He’s still not running at 100 percent, but the pinch-hit appearance is a sign that he’s feeling better.

Josh Rutledge went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday’s loss to the Reds.
Rutledge’s first-inning bomb off Mat Latos ended up being the extent of the Rockies offense as they got swept by the Red Legs. Locked into a starting job for the rest of the season following the trade of Marco Scutaro, Rutledge is now hitting .379/.393/.638 through his first 15 big-league games. Needless to say, he’s worth at least a temporary own in 12-14 mixed leagues if you’re hurting for middle-infield help.

Josh Rutledge is out of the Rockies’ starting lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.
Rutledge has been dealing with a sore quad recently, so the Rockies likely didn’t want to push him with the day game. Jonathan Herrera will start in his place at shortstop.

Josh Rutledge (quadriceps) hit a pinch-hit double Wednesday in the Rockies’ defeat of the Mets.
Rutledge was out of the starting lineup yet again with a lingering quad injury, but he’s obviously close to being ready. The 23-year-old infielder is batting .333 with a .962 OPS, six homers and 23 RBI over his first 33 games.
