    Rangers placed LHP Brock Burke on the 60-day injured list with a left labrum injury.
    Burke underwent left labrum debridement surgery back in February, and is expected to be on the shelf for at least 12 months. He could compete for a rotation spot in the future, but he won’t be ready to pitch until the middle of the 2021 season at the earliest. The Rangers also released their initial player pool for the truncated 2020 season; with 53-of-60 names now on the roster. Edinson Volquez and Juan Nicasio are currently not included in the pool, but are expected to be included in the coming days.

    Nicasio signed a non-guaranteed minor league contract with the Rangers in mid-January after struggling to a 4.75 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and 45/21 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings last season for the Phillies. The 33-year-old right-hander probably won’t be a member of the Opening Day roster in Texas, even if he’s healthy.

    The 33-year-old hurler toed the slab for the Phillies in 2019, posting a 4.75 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 45/21 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings. He’ll compete for a spot in the club’s Opening Day bullpen during the spring.

    Nicasio was lifted from his appearance on Friday after throwing just two pitches, and now we have the answer as to why. He’ll be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Edgar Garcia and Austin Davis were recalled from Triple-A on Saturday to bolster the Phillies’ bullpen.
