Jung Keun Bong underwent a one-hour arthroscopic procedure to clean around his labrum yesterday.
Bong will begin throwing in three months and is expected to be ready for spring training.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong has gone 15 innings without allowing a run for Triple-A Louisville.
He’s fanned 15 hitters over that span. Bong moved to 3-0 by allowing just two hits over seven innings Tuesday. It’s something of a mystery why neither he nor Brandon Claussen is getting the call to replace Jimmy Haynes in the Reds’ rotation.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong improved to 3-0 with a win in relief last night.
Bong has not allowed an earned run since Opening Day. He looks like he could have some value as a reliever in NL-only leagues.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
With a 1.80 ERA, Jung Bong may have the inside track on the job as the second lefty in Atlanta’s bullpen.
Mike Venafro and Andy Pratt were the favorites going in, but both have struggled recently. Bong might have a little fantasy value as a reliever, but you’ll want to wait and see how he does for the first few weeks before you consider adding him.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong picked up his first career save by giving up one run over the final three innings of Wednesday’s blowout of the Reds.
Bong isn’t getting a lot of work in crucial situations, but he does have some value in NL-only leagues. He’s won four games this season.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong gave up five runs -- three earned -- over 4 1/3 innings yesterday in his first DWL start.
Bong spent the entire season on the Reds’ DL, missing the first two months after offseason surgery and then the rest of the year after suffering a broken left hand on a rehab start. He might be set free this winter, but if the Reds elect to keep him, they’ll probably stash him away in Triple-A at the start of next year.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong suffered a broken left hand in a Single-A start Monday.
Bong was making his first rehab start recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. He is expected to be out for 3-6 weeks with the broken hand.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Keun Bong was arrested Friday in Bradenton, Fla. for domestic battery, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s department.
Deputies were called to the Sarasota Cay Motel after reports of screams. Bong and his wife said they had a fight and Bong was arrested after red marks were observed on his wife’s neck. Bong was taken to jail overnight, released without bond Saturday morning and has a court date later this month. The left-hander is on the Reds’ 60-day disabled list with a broken left hand.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Rotation candidates Jung Bong and Trey Hodges both gave up two hits in two scoreless innings tonight against the Phillies.
Horacio Ramirez started the game and pitched three perfect innings. Since Bong struggled in his first outing, he may have needed tonight’s performance to keep him in the race. Hodges hasn’t given up a run in four innings this month, so he’s probably a little ahead of Bong at this point. Still, Jaret Wright remains the favorite and Andy Pratt may also be ahead of Hodges and Bong.
  • INT Starting Pitcher
Jung Bong pitched a scoreless inning today in his Reds debut.
It appears that the Reds are leaning toward sending Bong down and making him a part of the Triple-A Louisville rotation.
