    Bills signed QB Keith Wenning.
Tyrod Taylor and T.J. Yates both have concussions, and the Bills need someone to soak up snaps in Thursday’s preseason finale. Wenning will be released on Friday or Saturday as the Bills cut down to 53 players.
  • FA Quarterback #3
    Bills waived QB Keith Wenning.
The camp arm could be back if the Bills suffer an injury at quarterback.
  • FA Quarterback #3
    Bengals signed QB Keith Wenning.
Wenning was the 194th pick in last year’s draft by the Ravens and spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad before getting cut by Baltimore last month. In Cincinnati, he’ll compete with A.J. McCarron and Josh Johnson.
  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens waived QB Keith Wenning, TE Phillip Supernaw and LB Darius Allen.
A 2014 sixth-rounder, Wenning spent his rookie year on the practice squad. Wenning has NFL size (6-foot-3, 218 pounds), but lacks arm strength and athleticism. He could have trouble finding work as a camp arm.
  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens signed sixth-round QB Keith Wenning to a four-year contract.
Wenning has good size at 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds but lacks arm strength and athleticism. He would seem to have a decent shot to beat out underwhelming Tyrod Taylor for No. 2 duties in new OC Gary Kubiak’s West Coast offense.
  • FA Quarterback #3
Bears GM Phil Emery revealed he recently did a “study” that showed late-round quarterback draft picks aren’t worth the trouble.
Some people seem to believe late-round QBs can be “developed,” but it doesn’t happen. “That developmental theory doesn’t hold a whole lot of water,” Emery said. “So who has gotten developed? There isn’t a single quarterback after the third round since 2006 that has been a long-term starter. ... And most of them (third-round QBs) have been wiped out of the league.” Emery’s analysis doesn’t bode well for the likes of Keith Wenning (Ball State) and Brett Smith (Wyoming).
  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens selected Ball State QB Keith Wenning with the No. 194 overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Wenning (6-foot-2 5/8, 218) made 47 starts for the Cardinals, logging a 27-20 record, 92:42 TD-to-INT ratio, and 63.0 completion rate. He was a second-team All-MAC pick as a senior, behind Northern Illinois’ Jordan Lynch. Wenning is a sub-par athlete (5.00 forty, 8-foot-4 broad jump) and lacks arm strength to drive the ball, but shows composure in the pocket and could perhaps keep the chains moving if eventually forced to make NFL spot starts. He profiles as a long-term backup.
  • FA Quarterback #3
Bengals promoted QB Keith Wenning from the practice squad.
A sixth-round pick of the Ravens in 2014, Wenning will back up A.J. McCarron while Andy Dalton (thumb) heals. The Bengals will be in major trouble if Wenning sees game action.
  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens signed QB Keith Wenning, QB Bryn Renner, DB Victor Hampton, DB Quinton Pointer, OT Marcel Jones, TE Allen Reisner, TE Konrad Reuland, FB Kiero Small, and DE Zach Thompson to reserve/future deals.
Tyrod Taylor is a free agent, so Wenning could compete to be Joe Flacco’s primary backup in 2015 training camp.
