Acker

Acker was forced into 13 starts last year, but had fallen to third-string duties. He wasn’t needed behind Tramaine Brock and Jimmie Ward. Acker could compete for snaps opposite Marcus Peters given Kansas City’s weak corner depth.

A three-year starter at SMU, Acker had 159 tackles, 29 pass deflections, and seven interceptions during his college career. He’s a long shot to make the 49ers’ roster, but is a candidate for the practice squad.

Acker is a three-year starter and boasts a 36-inch vertical jump to go along with 31-inch arms. He will battle for a roster spot, but is a long shot to crack the 49ers’ talented team. Acker’s brother, Karl, is a wide receiver at LSU.

Tramaine Brock is locked in as the No. 1. Acker and Reaser both lost their rookie seasons due to injury. Fourth and fifth options Dontae Johnson and Shareece Wright fill out the 49ers’ cornerback depth chart.

It’s Friday, and Acker has yet to be cleared for football activities. The 49ers will be playing backup cornerbacks in Sunday’s matchup with Julio Jones.

The second-year corner started the season off slow, but has been PFF’s No. 9 overall corner the past four weeks. His loss is a big one for the 49ers’ defense with Julio Jones coming to town. Consider Acker week-to-week.

The ex-49er and Chief previously visited the Seahawks. Now 26, Acker played 208 snaps for the Chiefs last season. He would be a depth signing in Indy.

A 13-game rookie-year starter for the 49ers, Acker has been limited to sub-package roles with Kansas City the last two seasons. The Seahawks could use Acker as secondary depth with Richard Sherman gone and Byron Maxwell a free agent.

Acker played 209 nondescript snaps for Kansas City last season and visited the Seahawks along with the Colts this spring. In Indy, the 6'/195 former sixth-rounder will provide depth should he make the final 53-man roster.

The Jaguars cut Dexter McDougle and Charlie Miller in corresponding moves. Acker spent the last two years as a backup in Kansas City after making 13 rookie-year starts with the 49ers. He’ll compete for one of Jacksonville’s final corner spots.
