  • SF Kicker #8
    49ers signed K Matthew Wright.
With Jake Moody dealing with a high-ankle sprain, it’s possible that Wright will be a multi-week replacement for San Francisco. Wright missed his only field-goal attempt in 2023 with the Panthers, but has bounced around over four seasons. He reportedly won a competition at camp for the job on Monday.
  • PIT Kicker #16
Steelers signed K Matthew Wright, formerly of the Panthers.
Wright spent time with four different teams in 2023 but only took the field in one game. In his second stint with the Panthers, Wright failed to connect on his only attempt in Week 18. Wright signed with the Steelers as a UDFA in 2019 and has been on the team’s roster or practice squad in three separate seasons. He will provide the team with an extra leg this summer but isn’t going to unseat Chris Boswell as Pittsburgh’s kicker.
  • CAR Kicker #4
Panthers K Eddy Pineiro (hamstring) is doubtful for Week 18 against the Bucs.
Pineiro suffered the injury in Week 17. Matthew Wright will be called up from the practice squad to close out the season as Carolina’s kicker. Kicking for the worst offense in the league, Wright is not on the fantasy radar for Week 18.
  • ATL Kicker #47
    Falcons signed K Matthew Wright.
Younghoe Koo missed Wednesday’s practice with a back injury and seems iffy for Week 12 against the Saints. Wright, who has made 40 of his 46 NFL field goal tries, could sub in for Koo and make for a desperation fantasy play.
  • SF Kicker #11
49ers signed K Matthew Wright, formerly of the Chiefs.
Wright’s signing could have a Week 1 impact for the 49ers, as their starting kicker, Jake Moody, is currently dealing with a quadriceps injury. If Moody is unable to go next week against the Steelers, it’s possible Wright will get the Week 1 call-up. Wright converted 83 percent of his field goal attempts last season and was a perfect 15-for-15 on extra points.
  • FA Kicker #11
Panthers waived Matthew Wright, QB Jake Luton, RB Camerun Peoples, WR Gary Jennings, WR CJ Saunders, OT Larnel Coleman, LB Bumper Pool, DL Antwuan Jackson, DB Collin Duncan, DB Josh Thomas, and CB Rejzohn Wright.
Wright kicked six games for the Chiefs and Steelers last year, converting 83% and going 15-for-15 on extra points. With rookie Jake Moody injured, the 27-year-old could be an option to resurface with the 49ers.
  • SF Kicker #35
Chiefs elevated K Matthew Wright from their practice squad for Saturday’s game against Las Vegas.
Harrison Butker (back) suffered back spasms in practice on Thursday and this news would seem to portend that Butker will not be active. The implied point totals make Wright a streamable Week 18 option if you need a kicker.

  • SF Kicker #35
Steelers signed K Matthew Wright from the Chiefs practice squad.
This could mean the team expects Chris Boswell to miss more time with a groin injury he suffered three weeks ago. Boswell missed the team’s Week 8 loss to the Eagles and probably won’t be ready to go out of their Week 9 bye. Wright, who has made 28 of his 32 field goal tries in three NFL seasons, would be a desperation fantasy option if he gets the call this week against the Saints.

  • KC Kicker #7
Harrison Butker (ankle) was not spotted at Friday’s practice.
Andy Reid called Butker a game-time decision. He also sat out Thursday after getting in some work on Wednesday, suggesting his injured ankle did not respond well. Following Matt Ammendola’s struggles, the Chiefs replaced him with Matthew Wright on the practice squad. Wright will likely get the call-up to kick against the Bucs.

  • SF Kicker #35
    Jaguars waived K Matthew Wright.
Wright served as the Jaguars’ kicker most of last season, making 21-of-24 field goals and 13-of-15 extra points. Both missed field goals were from 50-plus yards, where he was 4-of-6 on the year. With Wright now gone, Ryan Santoso is the current favorite to handle kicking duties under new coach Doug Pederson. But that can still change.
