Bills signed DE Max Valles off the Raiders’ practice squad.
Valles is a 21-year-old sixth-round rookie. He offers plus athleticism and is a nice upside flier for the Bills heading into the offseason. Valles has the tools to eventually develop into a functional run defender and pass rusher.

Raiders signed sixth-round DE/OLB Max Valles to a four-year contract.
A long (6'5/251) edge player with plus athleticism, Valles is a project who spent only two seasons at Virginia after transferring from a military academy. The Raiders are listing Valles as a defensive end, where he should compete for playing time on the right side with more highly-drafted Mario Edwards.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Raiders selected Virginia OLB/DE Max Valles with the No. 179 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Valles (6'5/251) spent two years at UVA after a one-year stint at a military academy, tallying 18 TFLs, 13 sacks and four forced fumbles as a 16-game starter. He was a third-team All-ACC pick in 2014. Valles is a good athlete for his size, running 4.83 with a 36 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot-1 broad jump. Fundamentally raw, Valles is a one- or two-year project but has tools to become an intimidating edge presence who can rush the passer and stop the run.
