Jaguars signed RB Mekhi Sargent to a one-year contract.
Sargent opened the 2021 season with the Titans. He was cut by them midseason, signed by the Rams, then cut by LA. Jacksonville was his final landing place. Primarily a special teamer, Sargent will be competing for a roster spot this summer.

Jaguars declared RB Mekhi Sargent, CB Nevin Lawson, LB Dakota Allen, and TE James O’Shaughnessy out for Week 17 against the Patriots.
Seargent had a chance to see some work with James Robinson out, but it looks like Ryquell Armstead and Dare Ogunbowale will form a committee this week in the backfield. The Jaguars will also be without James O’Shaughnessy (hip), who they ruled out in their final injury report.

Jaguars claimed RB Mekhi Sargent off waivers from the Rams.
The Jaguars also claimed linebacker Jamir Jones from the Rams. With Carlos Hyde and James Robinson both done for the year, Jacksonville is in desperate need of bodies at the running back position. Sargent gives them that and not much else. Dare Ogunbowale picked up nearly every running back carry for the Jags after Robinson went down last week but he has typically been a pass-catching specialist and a special teams contributor. Ryquell Armstead and even Tavon Austin could get in the mix in Week 17 versus the Patriots.

Rams promoted RB Mekhi Sargent from the practice squad.
Sargent was a game-day call-up in Week 13 as Darrell Henderson battled his quad injury. Sargent’s official promotion this early in the week doesn’t augur well for Henderson’s Week 14 status vs. the Cardinals, though the Rams could just be covering their bases. Playing on Monday Night Football, the Rams will not issue an official practice report until Thursday. At least as of Wednesday, it would appear fantasy managers should be readying for another heavy dose of Sony Michel.
