Chiefs agreed to terms with No. 207 overall pick DE Mike Catapano on a four-year contract.
The 2012 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, Catapano logged 12 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. Standing in at 6-foot-3, 271 pounds, Catapano clocked a 4.75 40-yard dash at the Combine while reeling off 33 reps on the bench press. He could see time at outside linebacker, or be asked to put on weight and play right defensive end in Bob Sutton’s 3-4 defense.

Chiefs selected Princeton DE Mike Catapano with the No. 207 overall pick.
Catapano (6-foot-3 7/8, 271) earned the 2012 Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League’s Defensive Player of the Year, recording 12 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. At the Princeton Pro Day, Catapano ran a 4.75 forty with a 37 1/2-inch vertical and 33 bench-press reps. An end in college, Catapano was worked out before the draft by 3-4 teams as an outside ‘backer and 4-3 teams at defensive end. It will be interesting to see where the power rusher lines up.

Jets signed DE Mike Catapano off their practice squad.
S Ronald Martin was waived in a corresponding move. Adding Catapano suggests Sheldon Richardson (hamstring, questionable) will not play.

Jets DE Mike Catapano played 57 percent of the defensive snaps Week 12 against the Dolphins.
Coach Todd Bowles made a concerted effort to get more speed on the field in passing situations against Miami, using Catapano and rookie Lorenzo Mauldin on the outside and moving Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson inside. Without a dominant edge rusher on the roster, the Jets will need to manufacture pressure. Using Catapano in passing situations may be one of the ways they try.

DE Mike Catapano left the Jets’ Week 13 game against the Giants with a foot injury and will not return.
Catapano was carted to the locker room late in the first half. He recorded three tackles before exiting.

Jets placed DE Mike Catapano on injured reserve with a foot injury, ending his season.
S Ronald Martin has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Promoted from the practice squad three weeks ago, Catapano played 53 snaps before suffering a Lisfranc injury.

Jets fear DE Mike Catapano suffered a season-ending foot injury Week 13 against the Giants.
Catapano was carted to the locker room late in the first half and never returned. Coach Todd Bowles said after the game Catapano may have injured his Lisfranc ligament. With New York desperate for speed on the edges, Catapano has just started to find a role in the defense. He is likely done for the year.

The Chiefs are using seventh-round pick Mike Catapano at outside linebacker in training camp.
Catapano is a bit of a ‘tweener at 6-foot-3, 271, but K.C.'s coaching staff believes he’s athletic enough to convert from college defensive end. “He’s got a little knack for pass rushing,” said coach Andy Reid. Catapano is being crosstrained at outside ‘backer on early downs and inside ‘backer in the nickel.
