Mohamed

Mohamed was Denver’s sixth-round pick this year out of Cal. He was waived early in the season after making the 53-man roster after final cuts. An inside ‘backer in college, Mohamed will try to upgrade the Broncos’ special teams.

The Broncos needed a roster spot with MLB Joe Mays returning from his one-game suspension. Mohamed should clear waivers and revert to the practice squad.

Mohamed takes the roster spot of suspended MLB Joe Mays, and Ihenacho is replacing Quinton Carter, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday. Mohamed was a sixth-round pick by Denver in 2011. Ihenacho is an undrafted rookie out of San Jose State. Both should be limited to special teams if active on Sunday.

Mohamed goes to make room on the roster for Dante Rosario. The sixth-round rookie will likely revert to the practice squad if he’s not claimed.

Mohamed had missed the first three games of the season, and the Texans couldn’t keep waiting around on him. Brian Cushing and Akeem Dent will continue to start at inside linebacker. Mohamed is set to be a free agent in 2016.

He had a boot on his right foot on Thursday and was walking with a significant limp. It sounds like the injury could be serious. Akeem Dent and Justin Tuggle should share Mohamed’s snaps while he is out.

A three-year starter and Cal’s leading tackler as a junior and senior, Mohamed struggles in coverage and is best suited as a two-down inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. The Broncos may envision Mohamed as developmental middle linebacker, but he’ll likely start out as a reserve and special teamer.
