Phillies picked catcher Adam Donachie from the Royals in Thursday’s Rule 5 draft.
Perhaps the most surprising pick of the day. Donachie, 22, hit .247/.352/.382 in 304 at-bats in the minors last season. Most of his production came at the offensive paradise known as Single-A High Desert, and he batted just .191 after moving up to Double-A. The Phillies need catching help, but they can do better.
