Adam Stern injured his right thumb while batting off Keith Foulke in a simulated game yesterday.
That was some simulation. Stern jammed his thumb and then a couple pitches later Foulke took a liner off the elbow from Trot Nixon. Stern may end up on the disabled list, which wouldn’t exactly be a huge blow to Boston.

Red Sox placed outfielder Adam Stern on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb.
The Red Sox were going to need to make room for Trot Nixon at some point during next week, so disabling Stern now was an obvious move. He’ll rejoin the roster in September.

The Devil Rays claimed Adam Stern off waivers, blocking him from going to the Orioles as part of the Javy Lopez trade.
Boston pulled Stern back, so they’ll have to wait until the offseason to ship Stern to Baltimore. Tampa Bay reportedly put in the waiver claim because they’re upset with Boston over what they believe was illegal contact with pending free agent Julio Lugo.

According to the Boston Herald, Adam Stern will go to the Orioles to complete the Javy Lopez trade, assuming that he makes it to the club on waivers.
Stern, 26, has been a disappointment since the Red Sox sent him down on April 20. He’s hitting .260/.299/.393 with 21 steals in 366 at-bats for Triple-A Pawtucket. He could turn out to be a useful reserve, but the Red Sox have similar players coming up, including David Murphy.

Triple-A Pawtucket’s Adam Stern went 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBI in Tuesday’s game.
Stern is still batting just .247/.294/.396 in 235 at-bats. He’ll rejoin the Red Sox in September, but he’ll really have to step it up if he wants the club to consider him as a potential fourth outfielder next year.

Red Sox selected outfielder Adam Stern from the Braves with 11th pick of the Rule 5 draft.
With Jason Cooper and Drew Meyer being passed on, Stern was the best non-pitching prospect selected today. It’s not saying much. The soon-to-be 25-year-old hit .322/.378/.480 with 27 stolen bases for Double-A Greenville last season. He’s only a potential reserve and he could use a year in Triple-A.

Brewers purchased the contract of OF Adam Stern from Triple-A Nashville.
Stern was batting .316/.395/.421 with one home run and three RBI over 38 at-bats with the Sounds. The 30-year-old outfielder has a .143/.189/.257 batting line over 35 big league at-bats and most recently appeared in two games with the Orioles in 2007.

Brewers recalled OF Adam Stern from Triple-A Nashville.
He was sent to the minors on Saturday, but quickly summoned back when Doug Davis unexpectedly hit the disabled list with a heart condition. The 30-year-old outfielder has a .139/.184/.250 batting line over 36 big league at-bats. He could pick up a few plate appearances while Milwaukee’s outfield deals with injury concerns, but Stern obviously has no fantasy value.

Brewers optioned OF Adam Stern to Triple-A Nashville.
Stern appeared in just one game and struck out in his only at-bat with the Brewers. He’ll get more consistent playing time back at Triple-A, which ought to help him the next time one of the Brewers’ outfielders gets hurt.

Brewers optioned OF Adam Stern to Triple-A Nashville.
He was cleared in order to make room for Carlos Gomez. Stern was 0-for-5 during his most recent stint with the club.
