Faulkner

Faulkner spent 2018 with the Orioles; posting a 4.85 ERA for Triple-A Norfolk. We haven’t seen the 26-year-old pitch in the majors since 2016, and it’s very unlikely we see him appear in one for the Dodgers in 2019.

Faulkner has put up a 7.94 ERA across eight relief appearances with the big club this season. He’ll be relegated to mop-up duty.

Faulkner was on the Rangers’ roster to open the 2016 season, but he posted a rough 6.75 ERA in nine major league appearances. The left-hander is organizational bullpen depth for Texas.

Dario Alvarez was cut to make room for him on the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old logged a 6.75 ERA over nine big league outings last season. He’ll start out with Triple-A Norfolk.

Faulkner posted an 8.31 ERA in five appearances earlier this season with the Rangers. He’s been way better at Triple-A and will give Texas a fresh lefty relief arm.

Faulkner has allowed seven runs -- five earned -- in 5 2/3 innings this season out of the Texas bullpen. The young lefty still looks like a promising relief prospect.

They needed to free up a 40-man roster spot with J.J. Hardy returning from the 60-day DL. Faulkner has spent all season at Triple-A Norfolk, posting a 2.79 ERA and 35/24 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings.

Faulkner was designated for assignment by Baltimore last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 25-year-old left-hander had a 2.79 ERA in 38 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Norfolk, but that came alongside a troubling 35/24 K/BB ratio.

Faulkner, who will turn 23 in a couple weeks, holds a 3.86 ERA and 103/48 K/BB ratio over 100 1/3 frames between Double- and Triple-A this season. He’s started and relieved in the minors but will be used out of the bullpen with the Rangers.

That’s now eight scoreless innings for Faulkner this spring, and he’s allowed just three hits. The 23-year-old left-hander seemed to be a longshot for a spot in the Rangers’ bullpen as camp opened and he might still be, but Faulkner is at least making it a difficult decision.
