Giants reassigned RHPs Spencer Howard and Blayne Enlow to minor league camp.
The move seemingly eliminates Howard from contention for the final spot in San Francisco’s starting rotation, which is down to Mason Black and Daulton Jefferies. The 27-year-old righty, who was in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee, will presumably head to Triple-A Sacramento as emergency starting pitching depth.

Giants signed RHP Blayne Enlow to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Enlow struggled mightily after reaching Triple-A, posting a 7.94 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 45 1/3 innings. He will likely serve as organizational starting depth for the Giants.

Twins reassigned RHPs Blayne Enlow, Cody Lawyerson, Patrick Murphy and Austin Schulfer and 1B Aaron Sabato to minor league camp.
No real surprises among this batch of cuts for the Twins. Enlow, 23, struggled in Grapefruit League action, posting a 9.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over seven innings in his six appearances. He’ll continue to serve as rotation depth in the upper minors for the Twins.

Twins sent RHP Blayne Enlow outright to Double-A Wichita.
Enlow went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The former top prospect will remain with the organization as extra pitching depth.

Twins designated RHP Blayne Enlow for assignment.
Enlow, 23, is removed from the 40-man roster after Minnesota claimed Oliver Ortega off waivers from the Angels. The right-hander was once considered one of the Twins best pitching prospects, but injuries have stalled his career. It will be interesting to see if a team is interested in adding him in hopes of tapping into his once promising potential.

Twins purchased the contract of RHP Blayne Enlow from High-A Cedar Rapids.
Enlow has been added to the Twins’ 40-man roster and will be protected from next month’s Rule 5 Draft. The 22-year-old underwent Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery in June but had previously posted a 1.84 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 14 2/3 innings. It may have been tough for another team to select an injured player expected to miss significant time in the Rule 5 Draft, but the Twins did not want to take any chances with one of their top prospects.

Twins RHP prospect Blayne Enlow will undergo Tommy John surgery.
The operation will require him to miss the remainder of the 2021 season, and a good portion of 2022, as well. The 22-year-old is one of the best prospects in the system, and he had posted a 1.84 ERA in 14 2/3 innings for High-A Cedar Rapids before the injury.

Twins RHP prospect Blayne Enlow didn’t allow a run over six innings on Monday in his start for High-A Fort Myers.
Enlow did allow seven hits, but he was able to limit the damage to just the one run while striking out three and issuing one walk. The 76th pick of the 2017 draft, Enlow has not quite lived up to expectations since being given a $2 million signing bonus to bypass college, but there’s been more than a few flashes that suggest he’ll live up to the hype. He’s still getting stronger, so his low 90s fastball should at least be a mid 90s offering in a couple of years. He also offers a power curve along with a cutter/slider, and he’ll mix in a change. Command has been an issue, but he’s walked just 19 hitters so far in 59 1/3 innings, so the control is at least getting better. He’s far from a finished product, but Enlow has mid-rotation upside, and if the velocity comes as expected, it’s possible he could become a No. 2 starter or better. Stay patient.

Twins RHP prospect Blayne Enlow gave up one hit over six shutout innings on Thursday for Low-A Cedar Rapids.
Enlow did walk four, but he struck out six to help compensate. Minnesota gave the 19-year-old right-hander $2 million after taking him with the 78th pick in 2017, and it’s understandable why. He’s projectable, but he can get his fastball up to 95 mph already with more coming for the 19-year-old. His curveball flashes plus, and the change should be a solid third offering. He pounds the zone with all three, and he could move quickly -- relatively, anyway -- through the system because of it. Enlow is an underrated fantasy pitching prospect.
