Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said on Wednesday that Brady Rodgers is dealing with arm soreness.
Rodgers had been slated to throw on Thursday, but it looks like his sore arm will keep him from taking part on that front. The Orioles inked the right-hander to a minor league contract in mid-January. We will have to wait and see whether his current arm issue is something that lingers further into spring training.

Orioles signed RHP Brady Rodgers to a minor league contract.
Rodgers has allowed 23 earned runs in just 13 1/3 career innings at the major league level. The 29-year-old right-hander will function as organizational relief depth for the rebuilding O’s entering the 2020 season.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for infield prospect Abraham Toro, who is joining the Astros ahead of Thursday night’s series finale against the Tigers. Rodgers, 28, has allowed a whopping 23 earned runs in 13 1/3 career innings of work at the major league level.

Astros optioned RHP Brady Rodgers and RHP Francis Martes to Triple-A Round Rock; reassigned RHP Jose Hernandez, RHP Erasmo Pinales, C Lorenzo Quintana, and LHP Ryan Hartman to minor league camp.
This is the first round of cuts for the Astros. Rodgers was never really in the running for an Opening Day roster spot, and he didn’t help his cause in allowing 15 hits and five earned runs over eight innings in Grapefruit League play. The 28-yer-old right-hander made only 13 appearances in the minors last season after returning late from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.

Despite giving up seven hits, Brady Rodgers allowed just one run in three innings Monday against the Braves.
Ronald Acuna homered off Rodgers, but none of the other six hits the righty allowed did any damage. The 28-year-old Rodgers underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017 and returned to throw 55 innings last year. Before getting hurt, he looked like a potentially useful fifth starter or middle reliever. He’s probably not making the Astros out of spring training, though.
