Kieschnick

Kieschnick, coming back from shoulder tendinitis reported no problems afterward. He is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Monday and should be activated from the DL in early September if all goes well.

“We’ll see how he rebounds and have him do it again in the next couple days,” Yost said. Kieschnick will head out on a rehab assignment soon but is not expected to return to duty until after rosters expand.

The contract was actually agreed to before arbitration figures were exchanged on Tuesday, but it wasn’t finalized because the Brewers wanted his shoulder examined. In addition to his salary, Kieschnick would get $25,000 bonuses for 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 games pitched. He also would get $1,000 per plate appearance from 51-60, $1,500 per plate appearance from 61-70 and $3,000 for each additional plate appearance.

Using Kieschnick as the DH allows manager Ned Yost to put him in the game as a pitcher should the game go extra innings, without having to use another relief pitcher.

Kieschnick is recovering from a sore shoulder.

Kieschnick will resume his role as a reliever/pinch-hitter.

The Brewers were forced to take the field late yesterday. Kieschnick should still return shortly after rosters expand.

Kieschnick seems ready to come off the DL. He’s been out since Aug. 9 with right shoulder tendinitis.

No team chose to claim Kieschnick off waivers. He’ll certainly get plenty of minor league contract offers, but he should be on some team’s 25-man roster.

Brewers GM Doug Melvin said that at least two clubs have shown some interest in trading for Kieschnick. If that’s the case, he’s probably not going to clear waivers.
