Cubs LHP prospect Burl Carraway is expected to be added to the team’s player pool.
The news was first reported by Cubs Insider and has now been confirmed by MLB.com beat writer Jordan Bastian. Carraway was selected in the second run of last month’s 2020 MLB Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, where he struck out 89 batters in 51 1/3 career innings while working mostly as a reliever.

Cubs signed second-round pick LHP Burl Carraway.
Carraway gets $1.05 million, which is a good deal below the $1.44 million slot value that came with the 51st pick; where Carraway was selected. The 21-year-old hurler was considered by many to be the best pure reliever in this draft, as he complements a mid-to-high 90s fastball with a curveball that gets double-plus grades from scouts. There are no guarantees, but it’s certainly possible we could see Carraway pitching for the Cubs before the 2020 season ends.
