Reds designated RHP Carlos Fisher for assignment.
He was cleared in order to make room for the newly-signed Ryan Ludwick on the Reds’ 40-man roster. Fisher, who turns 28 later this month, had a 4.50 ERA and 17/11 K/BB ratio over 24 innings with the big club last season. He has struggled with his command in the big leagues (5.0 BB/9), but could draw some interest from another organization.

Athletics signed RHP Carlos Fisher to a minor league contract
Fisher had a 4.61 ERA in 52 appearances with the Reds’ Triple-A affiliate this past season. While he’s struggled with his command in the majors, he should compete for a bullpen spot with the Athletics in spring training.

The 33-year-old hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2011 season but has refused to give up the dream. He spent the 2016 season in the Rangers’ system where he compiled a 4.40 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 63/22 K/BB ratio in 47 frames at Triple-A Round Rock.

Reds purchased the contract of RHP Carlos Fisher from Triple-A Louisville.
Fisher, a 6'4" 225-pound right-hander, had a 2.00 ERA and a 21/4 K/BB ratio in 18 innings for the Louisville Bats. He’ll work mostly in middle relief and should be a nice addition to the Reds’ bullpen.

Carlos Fisher will be out a few days with a sore right elbow.
“It tightened up that last game,” Fisher said Tuesday. “It scared me because I’ve never had a problem before.” He did not undergo an MRI, so it appears the Reds don’t consider the issue to be serious. Fisher, a right-hander, had a 4.47 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 52 1/3 innings last season.
