Casey Sadler announced his retirement from professional baseball after six seasons.
Sadler hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2021 campaign due to shoulder ailments and is finally calling it a career after attempting several comebacks. The 34-year-old righty wraps up his career, which included stops with the Pirates, Rays, Dodgers, Cubs and Mariners over six seasons from 2014-2021, with a sparkling 2.86 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 104/44 K/BB ratio across 125 2/3 innings (101 appearances).

Casey Sadler (shoulder) was cleared to resume a throwing program last week.
Sadler was shut down from throwing back in spring training due to an ongoing right shoulder issue, but the Mariners are optimistic he could be ready to return to Seattle sometime around the All-Star break, barring any setbacks.

Casey Sadler (shoulder) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.
Sadler has faced hitters a couple times this spring and should be ready to make his Cactus League debut sometime next week. The 32-year-old veteran reliever is trending towards being in the Mariners’ bullpen on Opening Day.

Casey Sadler (shoulder) progressed to facing hitters on Friday for the first time this spring.
Sadler has been out since last spring after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. His presence would provide a boost to the Mariners’ bullpen this year. He should get into some spring training contests over the next few weeks.

Mariners re-signed RHP Casey Sadler to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Sadler wound up missing the entire 2022 season after needing surgery in the spring to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but he should be back at full strength by Opening Day in 2023. The 32-year-old reliever was excellent for Seattle’s bullpen in 2021.

Casey Sadler has elected to become a free agent.
Sadler missed the entire 2022 season after requiring surgery in March to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The 32-year-old posted a shiny 0.67 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and 37/10 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings with Seattle in 2021, and didn’t allow a run over his final 29 appearances.

Mariners transferred RHP Casey Sadler to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the injured right-hander, this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Matt Koch who joined the bullpen on Wednesday. Sadler underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in late March.

Mariners placed RHP Casey Sadler on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder labrum.
This is just procedural, as Sadler will miss all of the 2021 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. He likely will head to the 60-day injured list when it becomes necessary.

Mariners manager Scott Servais announced Sunday that Casey Sadler (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery.
Well, that escalated quickly. Servais told reporters earlier in the day that Sadler had been shut down from throwing indefinitely, and now it appears he has made the decision to go under the knife. It’s a big loss for the Mariners bullpen, as the 31-year-old posted a stellar 0.67 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 37/10 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings during the 2021 campaign.

Mariners manager Scott Servais told reporters on Sunday that Casey Sadler (shoulder) has been shut down from throwing indefinitely.
Servais relayed that Sadler is in the process of making some decisions about how to proceed -- which could mean that surgery is an option that’s on the table. Losing the 31-year-old right-hander for any length of time is a big blow to the Mariners bullpen, as he was a dominant force when on the field in 2021.
