RHPs Ben Howard and Aaron Small are likely to be demoted to make room for Ismael Valdez and Aguila, who will back up Juan Pierre and have no fantasy value unless an outfielder gets hurt.

Aguila hit .383/.434/.553 in 47 at-bats following his demotion to Triple-A. He’ll battle Cody Ross and Joe Borchard for playing time in left while Josh Willingham is out.

Aguila is at .364/.421/.576 in 33 at-bats since being sent down, but he’s shredded Triple-A pitching before. Next time he gets the chance, he’ll have to prove he cna do it in the majors.

Aguila should prove to be a better player than Joe Borchard and maybe Cody Ross, too, but he didn’t make a great case for sticking around while hitting .229/.297/.337 in 83 at-bats. He’ll have more chances.

Aguila didn’t have an at-bat since his recall before going 0-for-3 in the loss to the Orioles tonight.

Aguila would have been a fine fourth outfielder for the Marlins, but he was hardly getting any playing time as the last man off the bench. Since being sent down last month, he’s batting .360/.408/.596 in 22 games, demonstrating that he’ll be ready in case the Marlins actually need him at some point.

Aguila has been very busy with Jeff Conine and Juan Pierre out and is showing enough to secure his roster spot. He was expected to be the Marlins’ fourth outfielder before Carlos Delgado was signed. He won’t get much playing time now if Juan Encarnacion is kept.

Aguila hit .275 and ranked second on the club with two home runs this spring. He’s not likely to see much time. You remember how often Jack McKeon played Abraham Nunez last season.
