Rangers prospect Chris Seise will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after suffering a torn ACL.
It’s a really tough break for the 22-year-old, as he also missed the majority of the 2019 season after suffering a torn labrum. The Rangers first round selection from the 2017 draft (29th overall), Seise hit .225/.295/.425 with two homers, four RBI and a 15/4 K/BB ratio through 10 games at High-A Hickory before suffering the injury.

Rangers SS prospect Chris Seise is out for the remainder of 2019 with a torn left labrum.
Seise injured his shoulder on a slide earlier this week and has already undergone season-ending surgery. It’s another tough injury blow for Seise, who missed most of last year with a torn rotator cuff. The 2017 first-rounder hit .241 with no homers, six RBI and six steals over 87 at-bats for Low-A Hickory before his labrum tear.

The Texas Rangers selected Chris Seise with the 29th pick of the 2017 MLB Draft.
This is very much a Rangers selection. Seise has big-time bat speed, and he could be a middle-infielder who can hit for power. He’s an excellent athlete, and his 70-grade speed and 60-grade arm make him likely to stick at shortstop. He’s many years away, but this could be the Rangers starting shortstop in 2020 if everything clicks.

Rangers prospect Chris Seise hit his first professional homer on Wednesday for short-season Arizona League Rangers.
Seise also drew a walk. The Rangers took Seise with the 29th pick of this year’s draft, and the early returns have been impressive. He’s hitting .320/.380/.440, and he’s picked up seven extra-base hits and stolen four bags in his 23 games in Arizona. There’s a long way to go, but if you’re looking for an upside play who is a borderline lock to stick at shortstop, Seise is worth targeting.

Rangers shortstop prospect Chris Seise is done for the year following right rotator cuff surgery.
Seise, the 29th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft out of a high school in Florida, hadn’t appeared in a game this season. He batted .284/.330/.400 with three home runs and six stolen bases over his first 51 professional games last season between rookie ball and Low-A Spokane.
