White Sox released 1B/OF Chris Shaw.
Shaw hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2019 season and has been cut loose by the White Sox after posting a .757 OPS with 12 homers in 57 games this season between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.
  • FA Left Fielder #20
White Sox signed 1B/OF Chris Shaw to a minor league contract.
Shaw hasn’t appeared in the majors since getting into 38 contests for the Giants from 2018 to 2019. The 29-year-old former first-round selection spent last season with the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes of the independent Atlantic League. He gives the White Sox some extra first base depth heading into the 2023 season.

    Orioles released 1B/OF Chris Shaw.
Shaw, formerly of the Giants, had just one hit with 25 strikeouts in 50 plate appearances over 14 games in Triple-A this season. Ouch, ouch. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers from San Francisco last November, but things didn’t work out as hoped here.

Orioles sent 1B/OF Chris Shaw outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 27-year-old was designated for assignment last week to clear out a 40-man roster spot for new Orioles shortstop Freddy Galvis. Shaw remains in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed.

Orioles designated 1B/OF Chris Shaw for assignment.
Baltimore claimed Shaw off waivers from the Giants in November, but he apparently won’t last the winter. This move was made to clear a roster spot for Freddy Galvis, who’s been signed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal.

Orioles claimed 1B/OF Chris Shaw off waivers from the Giants.
Thomas Eshelman has been designated for assignment by Baltimore in a corresponding roster move. Shaw, 27, has put up strong numbers in the upper minors but is a career .153/.244/.222 hitter at the MLB level.

Giants designated 1B/OF Chris Shaw for assignment.
The 27-year-old spent time during the 2020 season at the Giants’ alternate training site, but never got an opportunity with the big league club. Shaw -- the Giants’ first round pick from the 2015 draft (31st overall) -- is a career .153/.244/.222 hitter with one homer, seven RBI and a 31/9 K/BB ratio in 82 plate appearances in the majors. Perhaps he would benefit from a change of scenery.

  • FA Left Fielder #20
Giants added 1B/OF Chris Shaw and RHP Melvin Adon to their 60-man player pool.
It was a surprise that Shaw wasn’t in the initial pool. The two players will report to the team’s alternate training site.

Giants optioned RHPs Melvin Adon and Jandel Gustave, LHPs Conner Menez and Sam Selman and INFs Chris Shaw, Kean Wong and Abiatal Avelino to Triple-A Sacramento; re-assigned RHPs Tyler Cyr, Sean Hjelle, Jake Jewell, Luis Madero, Trey McNutt, Raffi Vizcaíno and Sam Wolff, C Ricardo Genovés, LHP Sam Moll and OF Jamie Westbrook to minor league camp.
Gustave seemingly had a shot to win a spot in the Giants’ bullpen, but he had a rough start to camp and winds up being an early cut. Shaw is a former first-round pick who has hit for plenty of power in the minors, but he’s really struggled during his time in the majors and doesn’t seem to be a priority at this point.
  • FA Left Fielder #20
Giants recalled OF Chris Shaw from Triple-A Sacramento.
Shaw has hit .294/.360/.559 with 28 home runs between Double- and Triple-A this season. He really struggled during his brief time in the majors last season.
