Red Sox signed INF/OF Dalton Guthrie to a minor league contract.
Guthrie, 28, can play all over and has a reasonable .289/.357/.434 line in 209 games in Triple-A. It hasn’t gotten him much major league work yet — he hit .244/.393/.333 in 56 plate appearances for the Phillies the last two years — but he’d be a perfectly fine 26th man, if needed.
  • ATL Center Fielder #18
Braves sent OF Dalton Guthrie outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Guthrie was removed from the Braves’ 40-man roster to make room for Max Fried’s return to Atlanta’s rotation. He’ll be organizational depth for the Braves at the Triple-A level.
  • ATL Center Fielder #18
Braves designated OF Dalton Guthrie for assignment.
The move clears room for Max Fried’s return from the 60-day injured list. Guthrie was claimed off waivers from the Phillies a couple of weeks ago and has been playing well in Triple-A. There’s a chance he’ll garner interest elsewhere.
  • ATL Center Fielder #18
Braves claimed OF Dalton Guthrie off waivers from the Giants; optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Guthrie was recently designated for assignment by the Giants after he was acquired from the Phillies just a couple of weeks prior. The 27-year-old hasn’t received much of a chance in the majors, but he offers some speed and versatility for his new organization.
  • SF Center Fielder #18
Giants designated OF Dalton Guthrie for assignment.
Guthrie was claimed off waivers from the Phillies last month, and winds up getting caught in a roster crunch right before the All-Star break. The versatile 27-year-old figures to attract some interest on waivers in the coming days.
  • FA Center Fielder #40
Giants acquired OF Dalton Guthrie from the Phillies for cash considerations.
Guthrie provides the Giants with some extra outfield depth moving forward. The 27-year-old was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Phillies after batting .167 (4-for-24) across 23 games this season in the big leagues.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies designated OF Dalton Guthrie for assignment.
Guthrie has four hits in 24 at-bats this season over 23 games in the majors and has been removed from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster with Darick Hall returning from the 60-day injured list. He figures to go unclaimed on waivers and remain at Triple-A Lehigh Valley as extra outfield depth.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies optioned OF Dalton Guthrie to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
With Cristian Pache returning from the injured list on Friday, someone needed to go to free up a spot in their crowded outfield mix and Guthrie was unfortunately the odd-man out this time around. The 27-year-old has hit .167/.286/.208 with a 7/3 K/BB ratio in 28 plate appearances with the big league club this season. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A for the time being.

  • PHI Left Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh was scratched from the Phillies’ starting lineup on Tuesday night due to right shoulder inflammation.
It’s unclear if Marsh’s absence from the Phillies’ lineup on Monday was also related to teh shoulder issue. Dalton Guthrie will take his place in center field and bat ninth for the Phillies against Ryne Nelson and the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.

  • PHI Left Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh is not in the Phillies’ lineup for Monday’s game against the Diamondbacks.
Marsh has cooled off considerably after a scorching-hot opening month, batting .140 (6-for-43) with zero homers and two steals in 17 games since May 1. He’s on the bench on Monday night with left-hander Tommy Henry on the mound for Arizona. It’ll be Dalton Guthrie patrolling center field in his absence.
