Goforth

He’s taking over for Chris Capuano, who was placed on the disabled list with elbow inflammation. Goforth spent a couple weeks in the majors earlier this year, logging a 7.20 ERA over four outings. He’s pitched to a 3.93 ERA in 13 appearances for Colorado Springs.

Goforth will provide some bullpen depth with Jeremy Jeffress and Will Smith out of the mix. The 27-year-old has posted a 9.39 ERA in seven appearances in the majors this season and has a shaky 4.50 ERA and 31/30 K/BB ratio over 42 innings in Triple-A.

Goforth was lit up for four earned runs while recording only one out Tuesday night against the Cardinals. He has a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this year with Milwaukee.

Goforth spent a week with the club providing bullpen depth after the departures of Jeremy Jeffress and Will Smith. The 27-year-old hurler owns a 10.97 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 9/4 K/BB ratio in 10 2/3 innings with the big league club. He should return when rosters expand in September.

The right-hander was designated for assignment last week but passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as organizational bullpen depth for the Brewers.

With the Brew Crew scooping right-hander Blake Parker up off waivers from the Angels on Wednesday, Goforth will serve as the roster casualty. The 28-year-old right-hander saw just 10 2/3 innings with the big league club last season. They were not successful ones, as Goforth surrendered 14 runs on 18 hits in that space.

Gorforth lost his 40-man roster spot over the winter but has gotten it back. He holds a 6.11 ERA over 30 appearances in the majors.

Goforth was only in the big leagues for four days. His lone appearance came Sunday when he tossed a scoreless inning against the Cubs. Because Goforth has been designated for assignment before (it happened just a few weeks ago), he can choose to become a free agent if he clears waivers.

He’ll replace the injured Wily Peralta (oblique) on the active roster. Goforth, 26, had a 3.43 ERA and 18/11 K/BB ratio over 21 innings this season in Triple-A. He’ll pitch in middle relief.

The move clears the way for Khris Davis’ return from the disabled list. Goforth didn’t make an appearance during his most recent stint with the big club.
