Dewayne Wise went 2-for-4 for Double-A Chattanooga Satursday in his season debut.
Wise was expected to make the Reds as a reserve outfielder after a strong spring, but he suffered a severe ankle sprain in late March and hadn’t played since. He’ll need to put up excellent numbers in the minors in order to overtake Quinton McCracken in July.

Reds purchased the contract of outfielder DeWayne Wise from Triple-A Lousiville.
Wise, who missed the first two months with a sprained ankle, hit .420/.455/.740 in 50 at-bats for Double-A Chattanooga and .250/.346/.409 in 44 at-bats for Louisville. He should be an upgrade over Quinton McCracken, though not one that’s going to make a difference in the standings. Chris Denorfia is clearly the best choice for this roster spot, but the Reds still believe he’s better off playing regularly in Triple-A and they’re probably right.

The Cincinnati Post is speculating that the Reds will call up DeWayne Wise in the next week.
Wise would replace Quinton McCraken on the Reds’ roster. Wise last played in the majors in 2004 when he was with the Braves. He shouldn’t have any fantasy value as a reserve outfielder.

DeWayne Wise hit a pair of homers as part of the Yankees’ 13-9 win over the Phillies on Friday.
Wise picked a bad team to sign a minor league deal with in January, as he entered the spring no higher than seventh on the outfield depth chart. He’s had a nice March with a .412 average in 34 at-bats, but it’s not very likely that someone will trade for him and give him a job.
