Linton

Linton had allowed just three runs in nine innings for the Blue Jays, but since he had pitched two of the last three days, the team apparently wanted another fresh arm.

Although he did good work for the Jays before being sent down last week, Linton is now off the 40-man roster.

Linton is likely to have a spot in the Toronto bullpen, but he’s not an option in fantasy leagues.

Linton, one of the best pitchers in the minors while with Triple-A Richmond in 2002, went 2-10 with a 5.28 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse last season. The Royals will give him an invitation to spring training, but the 38-year-old right-hander is not going to be a serious contender to make the club.

Linton won a spot in the Toronto bullpen as a middle reliever, but if the team decides to go with 11 pitchers at some point, he figures to be the top candidate for a demotion. Miller will a lefty specialist.
