Dodgers signed RHP Doug Nickle to a minor league contract.
Nickle, 29, has been one of the top relievers in Triple-A the last three years, but he hasn’t received an extended chance to establish himself as a major leaguer. He’s unlikely to get much of an opportunity in Los Angeles.

Triple-A Las Vegas’s Doug Nickle opted to retire this week.
The 29-year-old Nickle was an outstanding minor league reliever for several years, but the closest he came to extended chance to establish himself as a major leaguer was when he posted an 8.49 ERA in 11 2/3 innings for San Diego in 2002.

RHP Doug Nickle was traded from the Angels to the White Sox in a five-player deal.
If Nickle ever gets a real opportunity, he’ll probably be a decent setup man. The former Phillies prospect had a 1.48 ERA in 34 relief appearances for Triple-A Salt Lake this year. The White Sox will assign him to Triple-A Charlotte.
