Rockies signed OF Drew Avans to a minor league contract.
Avans made his major-league debut this past season, getting into eight games between the Athletics and Brewers. The 29-year-old outfielder, who forged a solid .776 OPS with eight homers and 40 steals in 100 games at the Triple-A level last year. will presumably have an opportunity to compete for a bench role with the Rockies next spring.
  • MIL Center Fielder #18
Brewers sent OF Drew Avans outright to Triple-A Nashville.
The 29-year-old outfielder had been designated for assignment over the weekend, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and it appears as though he’ll stick around in the organization as extra outfield depth for the moment. Avans has gone 2-for-17 (.118) with six strikeouts in his limited big league action between the Brewers and Athletics this season.
  • MIL Center Fielder #18
Brewers designated OF Drew Avans for assignment.
The Brewers needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Blake Perkins from the 60-day injured list and unfortunately Avans drew the short straw this time around. It seems likely that the 29-year-old outfielder will pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra outfield depth for the Brewers.
  • MIL Center Fielder #18
Brewers optioned OF Drew Avans to Triple-A Nashville.
Daz Cameron, who is on the paternity list, will be activated prior to Tuesday’s game. Avans, called up Friday, made one appearance for the Brewers and went 0-for-2 with a sac fly.
  • MIL Center Fielder #35
Brewers recalled OF Drew Avans from Triple-A Nashville.
Avans, who was claimed off waivers from the A’s last week, will likely only be up for a few days with Daz Cameron on the paternity list. The 29-year-old has hit .327/.411/.441 in Triple-A this year.
  • MIL Center Fielder #35
Brewers claimed OF Drew Avans off waivers from the Athletics.
Avans will head to Triple-A Nashville as extra organizational depth for Milwaukee. The unheralded 28-year-old outfielder went 2-for-15 with one stolen base in seven games for the Athletics in his first taste of the majors.
  • ATH Center Fielder #35
Athletics designated OF Drew Avans for assignment.
The 28-year-old outfielder was just promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 27, but they’re pulling the plug on him after he went 2-for-15 (.133) with a 5/0 K/BB ratio in 15 plate appearances. Given his track record of success in the minor leagues, there could be teams willing to take a flier on him on waivers.
  • ATH Center Fielder
Athletics selected the contract of OF Drew Avans from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Avans receives his first call up to the majors after hitting .328/.414/.444 with four homers and 16 steals in 48 games this season at the Triple-A level, with top prospect Nick Kurtz hitting the injured list with a hip flexor strain. The 28-year-old long-time minor leaguer signed with the Athletics in the offseason after spending the previous seven years in the Dodgers organization. He is unlikely to play enough to merit consideration for fantasy rosters outside of deep AL-only formats.
  • ATH Center Fielder
Athletics signed OF Drew Avans to a minor league contract.
Avans heads to the Athletics after spending the last seven years with the Dodgers organization. The 28-year-old outfielder posted a respectable .762 OPS with eight homers and 35 stolen bases across 625 plate appearances over 133 games last year for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dodgers optioned LHP Matt Gage and INF Andre Lipcius to Triple-A Albuquerque; Re-assigned RHPs Kevin Gowdy and Elieser Hernández, C Dalton Rushing, INFs Trey Sweeney and Austin Gauthier, and OFs Drew Avans, Jose Ramos and Ryan Ward to minor league camp.
The Dodgers are narrowing down their roster sooner than most around the league as they’re opening the season against the Padres in South Korea. There were no huge surprises among this batch of cuts, though Gage could have potentially pushed for a spot in the club’s Opening Day bullpen — especially with Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen slowed by minor injuries.
