Phillies claimed RHP Edwin Moreno off waivers from the Rangers.
Moreno should have been removed from the Rangers’ 40-man roster before Ben Kozlowski or Colby Lewis were sent through waivers earlier this winter. It doesn’t really matter now since all three are gone. Moreno, 24, has a good slider and changeup to complement an adequate fastball. He might be a future middle reliever.

Phillies re-assigned RHP Edwin Moreno, LHP Eude Brito, RHP Franklin Perez, RHP Robinson Tejeda, and catcher Carlos Ruiz to minor league camp.
None of the above are exceptional prospects. Moreno could be a middle reliever for the Phillies.

Padres optioned RHP Edwin Moreno to Triple-A Portland.

San Diego Padres optioned RHP Edwin Moreno to Triple-A Portland.
Moreno simply struggled with a 1-3 record, a 4.67 ERA and a 1,85 WHIP in 17 1/3 innings this season. It was a big day for the Padres as they are looking for any help for their struggling bullpen - with a big exception to high-flying Heath Bell. Moreno was a casualty of that house-cleaning.

Padres purchased the contracts of RHP Shawn Hill, RHP Kevin Correia, RHP Luke Gregerson, RHP Edwin Moreno, RHP Duaner Sanchez and RHP Walter Silva.
A full half of the team’s pitching staff, which will also be comprised of Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Heath Bell, Cla Meredith and recent acquisitions Edward Mujica and Eulogio De La Cruz. Hill is slated to start the fifth game of the season, even though he’s not yet ready to throw more than 60-70 pitches.

Padres designated RHP Edwin Moreno for assignment.
Moreno had a 4.84 ERA over 22 1/3 innings for the Padres this season. He had been pitching in the minors since mid-June, and he’ll likely stay with Triple-A Portland if he clears waivers.

Red Sox signed RHP Edwin Moreno to a minor league contract.
Moreno had a 4.84 ERA over 22 1/3 innings for the Padres in 2009. He will provide organizational relief depth for the Red Sox this year.

According to Augusto Cardenas, a reporter for Diario Panorama in Venezuela, the Red Sox have released RHP Edwin Moreno.
Moreno was signed to a minor league contract by Boston in January and invited to spring training. According to Cardenas, the 29-year-old right-hander has decided to play in Mexico instead. We still don’t have an official confirmation from the team, so stay tuned.
