Pirates designated C Eric Fryer for assignment.
Just some housecleaning on the 40-man roster in advance of next month’s Rule 5 Draft. Fryer, 26, batted .269 (7-for-26) in 10 games with the Pirates this season. There’s a good chance he makes it through waivers unclaimed.

Pirates sent C Eric Fryer outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Fryer successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 26-year-old backstop batted .269 (7-for-26) in 10 games with the Pirates this season. He’ll serve as organizational depth again in 2012.

Fryer won’t garner much playing time barring an injury to Rod Barajas. He’s behind Michael McKenry on the major league depth chart.
  • PHI Catcher #41
Pirates designated C Eric Fryer for assignment.
The move clears the way for the newly-claimed Ali Solis on the 40-man roster. Fryer appeared in six games with the Pirates this season, but spent most of the year at the Triple-A level.

Twins signed C/OF Eric Fryer to a minor league contract.
Fryer has been given a spring training invite. The 27-year-old opted for free agency after being designated for assignment by the Pirates. He hit a paltry .204/.257/.247 with no homers and 10 RBI in 65 games for Triple-A Indianapolis in 2012, and will likely serve as organizational depth for the Twins.
  • PHI Catcher #41
Eric Fryer has elected to become a free agent.
Fryer cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week, but refused a minor league assignment. The 27-year-old backstop will look to latch on elsewhere.

Twins recalled C/OF Eric Fryer from Triple-A Rochester.
With Joe Mauer still battling concussion symptoms, and potentially being unable to get behind the plate for the remainder of the season, it made sense to have another catcher on the active roster. The 28-year-old Fryer hit .215/.339/.365 with five homers and 31 RBI in 65 games this season.

Pirates placed C Eric Fryer on the paternity leave list.
Fryer’s wife gave birth to twins on Saturday morning, so he certainly has his hands full for the next couple of days. Elias Diaz was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
