Just some housecleaning on the 40-man roster in advance of next month’s Rule 5 Draft. Fryer, 26, batted .269 (7-for-26) in 10 games with the Pirates this season. There’s a good chance he makes it through waivers unclaimed.

He hit a paltry .204/.257/.247 with no homers and 10 RBI in 65 games for Triple-A Indianapolis in 2012, and will likely serve as organizational depth for the Twins.

Fryer’s wife gave birth to twins on Saturday morning, so he certainly has his hands full for the next couple of days. Elias Diaz was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
