Braves optioned RHP Erik Cordier to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Cordier allowed two runs (one earned) over 4 1/3 innings this spring while striking out three and walking one. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 5.14 ERA and 65/51 K/BB ratio over 20 starts between Double- and Triple-A last year. There’s little chance the 2004 second-round pick makes it as a starter at this point, but a move to the bullpen could give him a shot.

Pirates signed RHP Erik Cordier to a minor league contract.
He also gets a spring training invite. Cordier, who turns 27 in February, posted an ugly 5.85 ERA in 32 1/3 innings this past season in the Braves’ minor league system.

Braves sent RHP Erik Cordier outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Cordier is now off Atlanta’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old righty had an ugly 5.85 ERA in 32 1/3 innings this past season in the Braves’ minor league system.

Cordier, 27, has a 4.29 ERA over eight minor league seasons. The right-handed reliever made 44 appearances in 2013 at Triple-A Indianapolis (Pirates), posting a 4.58 ERA and 65/28 K/BB ratio over 53 innings of work. The Giants will give him a shot at a bullpen job.

Red Sox signed RHP Erik Cordier to a minor league contract.
Cordier spent the 2016 campaign plying his trade in Japan with the Nippon Professional Baseball League. That stint failed to prove particularly memorable, as he saw limited work (10 runs on 11 hits in 12 1/3 innings) with the Orix Buffaloes. Now, back to the States with the Sox. Cordier will turn 31 at the end of February and has not pitched in the majors since 2015. He has just 18 1/3 career frames of work under his belt at the big league level.

Giants activated RHP Erik Cordier from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.
Cordier is over his forearm injury, but the Giants decided they had a better use for a 40-man roster spot. The 29-year-old has control issues but had touch the upper-90s with his fastball, so there could be some interest in him on waivers.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
    Erik Cordier has cleared waivers.
He has three days to decide whether to accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento. Cordier holds a 1.50 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 12 frames for Sacramento this season.

Erik Cordier has elected free agency.
Cordier cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Giants, but he has opted to explore the open market rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento. The right-hander holds a 1.50, 1.00 WHIP and 20/8 K/BB ratio over 12 innings in the minor leagues this season.

Giants placed RHP Erik Cordier on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with a right forearm strain.
Cordier has reported improvement in recent days and hopes to resume throwing soon. He’s expected to function in a middle relief role with the Giants once he’s able to return, which should be in mid-April.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
    Giants released RHP Erik Cordier.
Cordier had an August 1 opt-out clause in his contract. He’s pitched well for Triple-A Sacramento this year (1.04 ERA in 31 games) but the Giants haven’t been able to find room for him in their bullpen.
