Rondon

Rondon, who turns 25 in April, posted a 3.93 ERA and 80/42 K/BB ratio in 71 innings this season between High-A Tampa, Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees clearly thought someone would pick him up as a lefty specialist in the Rule 5 Draft, so he’s now on the 40-man roster.

Rondon was designated for assignment over the weekend but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. He holds a 7.46 ERA in 12 appearances with Trenton this season.

Rondon, 25, had a 7.46 ERA in 12 appearances (six starts) with the Yankees’ Double-A affiliate. The move clears a spot for David Huff on the 40-man roster.

It doesn’t appear that he required an MRI, but the Yankees want to play it safe with the young left-hander. Rondon, 25, held a 3.92 ERA with 85 strikeouts over 82 2/3 frames between Double- and Triple-A last season.

The 25-year-old hurler has already missed a couple of weeks this spring due to tightness in his pitching shoulder, so the Yankees want to bring him along slowly. He posted a 3.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 85/54 K/BB ratio over 82 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A in 2013.

The 26-year-old southpaw spent the 2014 season in the Yankees organization where he registered a 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 42/26 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He’ll function as organizational bullpen depth for the Braves.
