White Sox placed LHP Fraser Ellard on the Voluntary Retired List.
Unexpected. The 28-year-old Ellard has spent time in the majors with the White Sox the last two years, amassing a 3.95 ERA and a 48/31 K/BB in 41 innings. It wouldn’t have been surprising to see the White Sox bump him from the 40-man this winter — maybe they already told him they were doing so — but he would have had other opportunities.

White Sox recalled LHP Fraser Ellard from Triple-A Charlotte.
Aside from one appearance as a 27th man in a doubleheader, Ellard had been stuck in the minors for the last four months. He has a 5.87 ERA in eight appearances for the White Sox this year, which is better than his 6.48 mark in the minors.

Fraser Ellard will be the White Sox’s 27th man for Friday’s doubleheader against the Guardians.
Despite allowing just one hit, Ellard has given up five runs in 6 2/3 innings for the White Sox this season. He’s struck out 10 and walked six.

White Sox activated LHP Fraser Ellard off the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Ellard will continue to work in Charlotte, but not on a rehab assignment. The White Sox likely will give him a chance in a bullpen role in the coming weeks.

White Sox transferred LHP Fraser Ellard to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster for veteran southpaw Tyler Alexander. Ellard hit the injured list back in early May with a lat strain. There is no timetable for his return.

White Sox placed LHP Fraser Ellard on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain.
Ellard missed time earlier this season with a hamstring strain and finds himself back on the shelf just a few days after returning from the injured list. No word yet on how long he’ll wind up being sidelined.

White Sox activated RHP Fraser Ellard off the 15-day injured list.
Ellard ended up missing just over the minimum stint after missing time with a hamstring strain. The 27-year-old should be a mid-to-late inning relief option with the White Sox now that he’s healthy.

Fraser Ellard struck out two in a scoreless innings for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
It was the first rehab appearance for Ellard, who was placed on the injured list with a strained hamstring on Apr. 12. He should rejoin the White Sox pen next week.

White Sox placed RHP Fraser Ellard on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 10, with a right hamstring strain.
Ellard hit the injured list prior to Friday’s series opener against the Red Sox and will likely miss at least a couple weeks. The 27-year-old righty has been part of Chicago’s high-leverage mix at the outset of the regular season.

Fraser Ellard allowed three runs on one hit with two walks in 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
The White Sox bullpen decisions were a bit confusing today. Manager Will Venable used Mike Clevinger in the seventh inning, but Clevinger struggled to throw strikes. The White Sox then turned to Ellard, who has just 4 1/3 career high leverage innings, to get a lefty vs lefty matchup against Kerry Carpenter and, eventually, Riley Greene. It did not work. The last few pitches Ellard made were nowhere near the strike zone and then Spencer Torkelson won the game against Jordan Leasure, who was brought on to try and get the White Sox out of the jam.
