Rays outfield prospect Granden Goetzman stole five bases Saturday in a win for High-A Charlotte.

Goetzman hadn’t stolen a base all season prior to Saturday. He took full advantage of St. Lucie’s slow-working major league rehabbers by having a field day on the bases. Goetzman has now stolen 51 bags in 232 minor league appearances. The speedy 22-year-old is hitting .296 this year with nine RBI.

Cardinals signed OF Granden Goetzman to a minor league contract.

Goetzman, 25, spent the first seven seasons of his minor league career in the Rays’ organization. In 2017, he slashed .259/.315/.408 with four homers, 36 RBI and 14 swipes across four minor league levels. This is nothing more than a depth signing for the Cards.
