In what was a no-brainer, Gustavo Chacin was named the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Year.
He led Double-A New Hampshire with a 16-2 record and a 2.92 ERA in 141 2/3 innings, before being called up by Toronto this month. Chacin pitched extremely well in his two major league starts in September and may be in the mix next season for a rotation spot.

Gustavo Chacin wasn’t involved in the decision after surrendering three runs over 6 2/3 innings against the Tigers tonight.
He walked four and gave up five hits, two of which were home runs. Chacin’s ERA hasn’t slowed much since his fast start in April, but his WHIP is up to 1.41 and his 84/53 K/BB ratio is less than inspiring.

Gustavo Chacin has had his next start pushed up to Saturday. Dustin McGowan has been shifted from Saturday to Sunday.
Chacin will be pitching on normal rest.

Gustavo Chacin, who pitched 2 2/3 innings for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, is scheduled to make his next rehab start on Wednesday.
Chacin will return from his elbow injury, but the Blue Jays don’t seem to know how much he’ll contribute. Our guess is that he won’t make it through September healthy.

Gustavo Chacin (elbow) yielded two runs and six hits in 2 2/3 innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Chacin threw 65 pitches, 49 of them for strikes. As desperate as the Jays are for pitching, maybe that’s all it will take to get Chacin back into the rotation next week. Still, it seems obvious that he could use one more rehab start.

Gustavo Chacin (elbow) allowed two runs in five innings in his final rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.
Chacin gave up six hits, walked one and struck out six. The Blue Jays are expected to activate him and start him Tuesday against the Twins. He probably won’t be worth using in AL-only leagues right away.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher
Gustavo Chacin (elbow) gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning in a rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
The Jays probably won’t be able to put Chacin back into the rotation right away after such a subpar performance. The team still has no idea what it will get from the left-hander over the rest of the season. He could continue to experience elbow troubles.

Gustavo Chacin (elbow) will make one more rehab start on Monday and rejoin the Blue Jays’ rotation on Aug. 19.
The original plan was for Chacin to pitch Tuesday, but the Jays decided to push him to the back of the rotation following Monday’s off day. He’ll pitch for Single-A Dunedin on Monday.

Gustavo Chacin (elbow) is scheduled to make another minor league rehab start Friday.
Chacin gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning at Triple-A last week, so he’s clearly not ready to return.

Gustavo Chacin left Friday’s game after three innings with an undisclosed injury.
He gave up two runs to the Tigers before being replaced by Scott Downs.
