    Harrison Musgrave pitched well in a spot start against the Padres in Cactus League action on Friday night, racking up five strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings of one-run ball.
    The Rockies were forced to improvise a bit in this one as the scheduled starter -- Chad Bettis -- was scratched prior to the game. The left-hander is having a nice spring, registering a 3.09 ERA and 13/2 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings.

    Harrison Musgrave was outstanding in Friday’s Cactus League victory over the Giants, allowing just one hit over three shutout innings.
    The left-hander punched out two and didn’t walk a batter on the night. The 24-year-old southpaw has pitched very well in Cactus League play, but doesn’t seem to be considered as an option for the Opening Day rotation.

    Musgrave was lit up in his Friday appearance against the Mariners, allowing three runs over three innings of work, and this revelation lends some context to those struggles. Through 20 appearances overall, the 26-year-old has a 4.76 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. It’s not clear how long he might be out at this point.
