Rays recalled LHP Ian Seymour from Triple-A Durham.
Seymour pitched once for the Rays last month, throwing two innings in relief and getting a win in hir major league debut. He then returned to starting in Triple-A, and he had a 2.16 ERA over 25 innings in four outings since his demotion. The Rays rotation for the rest of the week seems set, and the team also has Joe Boyle available to go long, but Seymour will be ready if needed.

Rays optioned LHP Ian Seymour to Triple-A Durham.
Seymour, called up Sunday, picked up a win in his major league debut last night, but since it took him 29 pitches to do so, right back down he goes in exchange for a fresh arm.

Ian Seymour allowed one run — zero earned — over two innings on Monday to pick up a win in relief during his major-league debut against the Red Sox.
Seymour received the call to protect a one-run lead in his major-league debut during the 10th inning of Monday’s series opener at Fenway Park after closer Pete Fairbanks blew a save in the previous frame. The 26-year-old lefty struck out Carlos Narváez and got Jarren Duran to fly out before intentionally walking Rafael Devers. He should’ve gotten out of the frame, but first baseman Jonathan Aranda committed a fielding error that allowed the tying run to cross the plate. He came back out to guard a two-run advantage in the ensuing frame and managed to get through the frame unscathed. He would offer some intrigue for fantasy purposes in a starting role, but the Rays have opted to have him pitch out of the bullpen for now.

Rays recalled LHP Ian Seymour from Triple-A Durham.
Seymour earns his first promotion to the big leagues after compiling a strong 2.95 ERA and 84/15 K/BB ratio across 61 innings (12 appearances, 11 starts) this season for Triple-A Durham. The 26-year-old lefty was a second-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and has flown a bit under-the-radar for fantasy purposes over the last few years. He’s an interesting arm, but he’s unlikely to generate significant fantasy value operating in long relief. He’ll be worth monitoring closely in deeper mixed leagues on the chance he’s able to sneak into Tampa Bay’s rotation.

Rays RHP prospect Ian Seymour threw six shutout innings for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, allowing three hits and striking out three.
Seymour didn’t walk a batter and now has a 2.01 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 31 1/3 innings with a 38:8 K:BB ratio. He is one of the top pitching prospects in Tampa Bay’s organization but appears to be behind Joe Boyle for a promotion, should a spot open up in the Rays’ rotation.

Ian Seymour struck out nine while allowing one run over 5 1/3 innings for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old Seymour, who was added to the 40-man last winter, is probably behind Joe Boyle in line for any openings in the Rays rotation, but he’s off to a great start at Durham, having posted a 2.49 ERA and a 35/7 K/BB through 25 1/3 innings. He’ll be ready if needed.

Rays optioned RHP Yoniel Curet and LHPs Joe Rock and Ian Seymour to Triple-A Durham; reassigned INF Brayden Taylor, OF Matthew Etzel and RHP Paul Gervase to minor league camp.
As is often the case with large batches of cuts this early in camp, there were no real surprises among the group. Curet, 22, was terrific between High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery in 2024, registering a 2.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 159/60 K/BB ratio over 119 innings in his 26 starts. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him start a couple of games for the Rays before the 2025 season concludes.

Rays selected the contract of LHP Ian Seymour from Triple-A Durham.
Seymour made some late-season noise in the upper minors, finishing the 2024 campaign with a sparkling 2.35 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 162/41 K/BB ratio across 145 1/3 innings (27 starts) between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. The 25-year-old southpaw, who was a second-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, has been officially added to Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster ahead of this week’s reserve list deadline to shield him from selection in next month’s Rule 5 Draft. It wouldn’t be a shock if he pushed in spring training for a spot in the Rays’ season-opening pitching mix.
