Jamie Hoffman has elected free agency.
Hoffman was claimed off waivers by the Rockies in early December but never stood much of a shot of cracking Colorado’s Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old outfielder posted a cool .853 OPS with 22 home runs and 84 RBI in 133 games last year at the Triple-A level, and should be able to attract interest on the open market.

Jamie Hoffman went 5-for-5 for Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday.
Repeating Double-A as a 24-year-old, Hoffmann is hitting .313/.482/.547 through 64 at-bats. He doesn’t have the talent to be a major league regular, but he is a fine defender who can do enough things well to perhaps carve out a career as a bench player.

Dodgers optioned outfielder Jamie Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Hoffman had two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in 22 at-bats, finishing with a .182/.167.409 batting line. He didn’t see enough playing time for any sort of fantasy consideration.

Despite hopes to play, Andre Ethier is out of the lineup for Monday’s game against the Rockies.
He appeared as a pinch hitter on Sunday, but he’s still not ready to start. He’s being bothered by a split nail on the big toe of his right foot. Jamie Hoffman, who homered on Sunday, starts again in his place.

Jamie Hoffmann drove in four runs against the Angels on Sunday but the Dodgers still lost the game 10-7.
Hoffmann hit a three-run homer and also added an RBI double, all of which were MLB firsts for him. He won’t see enough playing time to be a fantasy option.

Andre Ethier is day-to-day with a split nail on the big toe of his right foot.
If Ethier can’t play on Sunday, then Jamie Hoffman figures to get the start in right field.
