    Double-A Portland’s Jared Wells was removed after pitching a scoreless inning Wednesday and was told he’s being bumped up to Triple-A Portland.
    Wells was 4-3 with a 2.64 ERA, 53 H and 49/27 K/BB in 61 1/3 innings for Mobile. Cesar Carrillo’s injury makes it more likely that Wells will debut in the majors during the second half.

    Wells is hoping to get a minor league invite from someone and, according to Cotillo, has received some interest. The 32-year-old hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2008 and didn’t post an ERA lower than 4.63 in any of his last three years in the minors.
