Jaret Wright will get his three-year, $21 million contract from the Yankees, but the third year will be voidable if he suffers a shoulder injury.
If Wright spends a specific time period (probably either 60 or 90 days) on the DL with a shoulder problem within the two years, the Yankees could terminate the third year. The third year is also voidable for Wright if he wants to seek more money after 2006.

According to the Seattle Times, the Mariners have offered Jaret Wright a contract believed to be worth $15 million over three years.
That’s unlikely to get a deal done. Wright figures to receive at least $18 million over three years, and if the Yankees get involved, the price could go even higher.

According to the Washington Post, Jaret Wright will sign a three-year deal to pitch for the Yankees.
The contract is in the same neighborhood of Kris Benson’s three-year, $22.5 million contract with the Mets. We think that’s too high unless Leo Mazzone comes with him. Wright isn’t likely to collapse outside Atlanta, but he might not perform much better than Javier Vazquez did last season.

ESPN is reporting that Jaret Wright passed his second physical with the Yankees, clearing the way for his deal to become finalized.
Wright is supposed to get a three-year, $21 million contract.

Jaret Wright pitched three shutout innings against the Dodgers yesterday in a game that was called off in the top of the fourth inning because of rain.
“Wright looked terrific,” manager Bobby Cox said. “Really good location and good sinker. Couple of really good breaking balls, too.” The performance probably clinched a rotation spot for Wright. Since he’s a Brave, he’ll be worthy of a $1 bid in NL-only leagues. Just remember that he’s only expected to start until Paul Byrd returns in June.

Jaret Wright will be moved in the rotation. He’ll start Wendesday on seven days’ rest.
Wright is being moved between Russ Ortiz and Mike Hampton, but not because the Braves see him as their No. 2 starter. Giving Hampton an extra day keeps him on his normal four days’ rest.

Padres’ assistant GM Fred Uhlman Jr. said the Matt Herges trade was fueled by Jaret Wright’s success in Triple-A.
Wright will join the Padres on Wednesday, having compiled a 1.42 ERA in 19.1 innings with Portland. He’ll assume Herges’ former role and have no value.

Jaret Wright will miss another 7-10 days with a strained left oblique muscle.
It’s uncertain whether Wright will be ready for Opening Day. Since he hasn’t done anything to earn a spot on the Padres, it may not matter.

Jaret Wright has emerged as the clear frontrunner for the No. 5 starter’s job, judging from comments manager Bobby Cox made recently.
Wright is competing with Trey Hodges, Jung Keun Bong and Bubba Nelson, but has the inside track. Cox said he “looks really good right now, but we haven’t made a decision. We’re going to give Jaret a chance to start. He wants to start. If his arm can hold up to all this, we’ll see.”

Jaret Wright, who starts for the Braves today has pitched far better in night rather than day games.
Wright is 3-2 with a 2.01 ERA in night games, but 0-3 with a 9.75 ERA in the day so far this season. For his career, he is 32-23 at night compared to 8-19 during the day. Something to consider if you are thinking about having Wright in your lineup today against the Phillies.
