    Ames, a supplemental first-round pick of the Rays back in 2011, had registered a 5.70 ERA and 34/10 K/BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings of relief this season with the Nationals’ Double-A affiliate in the Eastern League. The 27-year-old right-hander will now function as minor league bullpen depth for Milwaukee.

    Nationals signed RHP Jeff Ames to a minor league contract.
    The 26-year-old hurler was drafted by the Rays in the first round (42nd overall) in the 2011 draft. He spent the 2017 season at Triple-A Durham, posting a 3.98 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 78/35 K/BB ratio in 63 1/3 innings of work out of the bullpen. He’ll add bullpen depth for the Nats.
