Jesus Delgado struck out three in two scoreless innings today for the Saguaros of the AFL.
The 21-year-old Delgado emerged as one of Boston’s top relief prospects while posting a 3.50 ERA in 72 innings for Single-A Greenville. If the Red Sox keep having bullpen troubles, a jump from Double-A to the majors next year could be a possibility.

Jesus Delgado allowed one run and one hit over six innings Saturday in a start for Double-A Carolina.
Delgado was considered one of Boston’s top relief prospects when he was included in the Josh Beckett deal and he remained in the pen for the Marlins last year, but he was moved into the rotation this season and he has a 5.46 ERA in 13 starts for Carolina. He still projects as a reliever in the majors.

Mariners sent RHP Jesus Delgado outright to Triple-A Tacoma; reassigned LHP Tyler Johnson, RHP Chad Cordero, C Jamie Burke, INF Chris Burke, INF Chris Woodward and OF Michael Wilson to minor league camp.
The Mariners were able to get Delgado through waivers after he gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings this spring. Kept over him was Shawn Kelley, even though he had a 7.71 ERA. Johnson and Cordero weren’t yet healthy enough to compete for jobs. Jamie Burke’s demotion makes Rob Johnson the backup catcher. Wilson wasn’t a possibility for the roster, even after hitting eight homers this spring.

Marlins recalled RHP Jesus Delgado from Double-A Carolina.
Delgado had a 5.40 ERA in 51 2/3 innings of relief between Double- and Triple-A. The stuff is there for him to be a quality major league reliever, but his stock has slipped over the last year.

Marlins recalled RHP Jesus Delgado from Double-A Carolina.
Delgado was up for a few days in July, but never made his major league debut. The product of the Josh Beckett deal had a 3.45 ERA in 57 1/3 innings as a reliever for Carolina, but the command isn’t there to make him a useful reliever just yet.

Marlins optioned RHP Jesus Delgado to Double-A Carolina.
Delgado spent less than a week with the team and saw zero work in his first taste of the majors.

The Marlins will call up Rick VandenHurk to start against the Braves on Tuesday.
It could be one and done for VandenHurk with Anibal Sanchez set to return. Jesus Delgado will be sent down to open up a spot.

Marlins optioned RHP Jesus Delgado to Double-A Carolina; Reassigned RHP Marcos Carvajal, RHP Tim Corcoran, LHP Chris Seddon, RHP Dallas Trahern, C Brad Davis, C Chris Hatcher, INF Lee Mitchell, INF Rex Rundgren and 1B Gabriel Sanchez to minor league camp.
Carvajal, Corcoran and Seddon all have major league experience, but the Marlins simply didn’t have enough innings for all of their bullpen candidates. The notable prospects here are Trahern and Seddon. Trahern, picked up in the Miguel Cabrera deal, gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings this spring. Sanchez was 2-for-13 with a homer.

Right-handed relievers Jesus Delgado and Harvey Garcia were sent from Boston to Florida in the Josh Beckett deal.
The Red Sox liked both young relievers enough to put them on the 40-man roster last week, even though neither has made it to Double-A yet. Delgado, 21, reaches the mid-90s with his hard sinker, making him a potential setup man. He might debut in the second half of next season. Garcia, also 21, had a 2.01 ERA and a 54/18 K/BB ratio for low Single-A Greenville last season. He’s not the prospect that Sanchez is, but he has a chance.

Right-hander Jesus Delgado will be the minor leaguer the Marlins receive along with Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez for Josh Beckett, the Boston Herald reports.
Delgado, a 21-year-old reliever, was added to Boston’s 40-man roster last week to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He throws in the mid-90s and keeps the ball on the ground, making him a potential setup man.
