Carreno

Carreno has allowed 11 hits and six earned runs in 12 innings this season for Toronto. The righty should be back up in the major leagues later this summer.

Carreno was sent down to the minors last month after allowing three runs over five innings during Grapefruit League action, but plans changed following Brett Cecil’s demotion. He’s only really assured of starting the third game of the season Sunday against the Indians, so he’s not worth much of an investment in standard fantasy leagues.

Carreno allowed four runs over six innings in a loss Sunday to the Indians, a start he was given following Brett Cecil’s demotion. Toronto wanted additional bullpen reinforcements for now, but expect Carreno to return north soon.

Carreno allowed four runs over six innings in a spot start against the Indians back on April 8, but he’ll be available out of the bullpen Wednesday. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.20 ERA and 17/4 K/BB in 20 1/3 innings over four starts at the Triple-A level this year.

Carreno might be able to help the Blue Jays as a short reliever, but he’s not ready to start major league games right now. Corey Hary, Martin Maldonado and Carlos Gomez all homered off him today.

The Blue Jays have yet to make an official roster move. Carreno has allowed six runs on 11 hits over 12 innings this season at the major league level. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Carreno will make the start Wednesday afternoon against the Brewers. The 25-year-old right-hander has made a handful of appearances for the Jays this year and has a 4.71 ERA and 37/14 K/BB ratio over seven starts at the Triple-A level. He’s not a recommended fantasy option.

He’ll give the team some length after Wednesday’s rout at the hands of the A’s. Carreno has put up a 6.60 ERA and 9/11 K/BB ratio over 15 innings at the big league level this year.

The moves would also open up a roster spot for newly-acquired Steve Delabar. Baseball America ranked Sierra as the organization’s No. 15 prospect during the offseason. The 23-year-old has posted a nice .289/.360/.472 slash line with 17 homers in 422 plate appearances for Triple-A Las Vegas. He also has decent wheels and could become relevant in deeper AL-only leagues as a reserve outfielder for the Jays.

Carreno and Evan Crawford were sent down to the minors in order to make room for Moises Sierra and the newly-acquired Steve Delabar on the active roster. Carreno has allowed 12 earned runs on 17 hits (including six home runs) and 11 walks over just 17 innings of work with the Jays this season.
