Cornely

He’s now off the 40-man roster. Acquired from the Braves last month for cash considerations, Cornely holds a 4.35 ERA and 36/15 K/BB ratio over 31 relief innings between Double- and Triple-A this season.

Cornely, 25, boasts a 2.75 ERA and 12.2 K/9 rate in the minors. He’ll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Cornely had been designated for assignment on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, posting a 4.42 ERA and 24/7 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 relief frames.

Cornely got the boot off the 40-man roster in order to clear space for Nick Masset. The 26-year-old was blasted in his lone appearance with the Braves this season, but has posted some respectable numbers in the minors. There’s still a chance he could pass through waivers unclaimed.

Cornely was hammered for four earned runs in his one relief appearance for Atlanta, but the 25-year-old right-hander has been very good at the upper levels of the minor leagues and should get another shot soon.
