Twins signed 1B Jonathan Rodriguez to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old spent the first eight seasons of his professional career in the Cardinals organization, most recently slashing .256/.335/.410 with 15 homers and 60 RBI between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis in 2016. He’ll add minor league depth for the Twins and could get a shot at some playing time with the big league club in the event that injuries strike at the major league level.

Marlins signed 1B Jonathan Rodriguez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Rodriguez spent 2017 with the Twins organization, where he was also on a minor league deal. The 28-year-old first baseman put up big numbers with a .926 OPS, but he did most of his damage in Double-A Chattanooga. As bad as the Marlins are, it’s unlikely Rodriguez becomes anything more than organizational fodder for Miami in 2018.
