The 35-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment over the weekend. Cisnero is now free to latch on elsewhere if he finds another opportunity that interests him. Cisnero posted a 6.89 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and a 17/8 K/BB ratio over 15 2/3 innings with the Halos.

Cisnero was just activated off the 60-day injured list Saturday, but after throwing 1 2/3 innings and allowing two runs — one earned — he’s now on the waiver wire. Victor Mederos was recalled to take his spot on the roster from High-A. Cisnero likely won’t see a ton of interest on the waiver wire.

The 35-year-old hurler has been sidelined since late April due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder. He’ll rejoin the Angels’ bullpen on Saturday with Jose Soriano heading to the injured list with arm fatigue. Cisnero held a 7.07 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and a 16/7 K/BB ratio across 14 innings before landing on the injured list.

Nothing has changed in the recovery or the prognosis for the 35-year-old hurler — he’s still working his way back from inflammation in his pitching shoulder — this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Michael Stefanic. There remains no clear timetable for Cisnero’s potential return.

Cisnero will be out at least two weeks while he recuperates. The right-hander is being replaced on the roster with Zac Kristofak, with Jimmy Herget designated for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster.

Cisnero had a nice five-year run with the Tigers, but his effectiveness waned last season and he wound up with a 5.31 ERA in 59 1/3 innings. On the plus side, his velocity remains good and last year’s 26% strikeout rate was the second highest mark of his career. He could be pretty useful in the sixth and seventh innings.

It’s the fifth career save for the 34-year-old Cisnero, who has a 2.50 ERA on the season. He’ll continue to work in front of Alex Lange for the most part.

Cisnero was a bit behind because of muscle spasms in his neck. The veteran will likely serve as a setup man for the Tigers this season.

Cisnero is dealing with a left neck spasm this spring, but it doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward. The 34-year-old southpaw should be able to get into Grapefruit League contests this week, if he’s feeling up for it.

He’s been dealing with the issue for the past week. It doesn’t sound like a major concern as of now, so there’s still plenty of time for him to get ramped up for the season. The 34-year-old Cisnero missed time with a shoulder injury last year before posting a 1.08 ERA with 23 strikeouts and 19 walks in 25 innings.
