Godoy has had stops with the Phillies, Orioles, Yankees, Pirates, Twins and Mariners since 2021, getting into 26 games at the big-league level. The 29-year-old journeyman backstop has struggled this season to a disastrous .387 OPS in 20 games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Godoy latches on with the Phillies as emergency catching depth at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 29-year-old backstop has bounced around the last couple season with stops in the majors for the Mariners, Twins and Pirates.

This move now leaves Wyatt Langford and Derek Hill as the only non-roster outfielders left in Rangers camp. It’s more than likely than not Langford will get the nod for the Opening Day roster over Hill due to his impressive spring camp. Fabian will continue to develop at the minor league level where he posted a .854 OPS across 480 plate appearances for Triple-A Round Rock last season.

The well-traveled 29-year-old backstop appeared in 36 games at the Triple-A level between the Orioles and Yankees during the 2023 campaign — slashing .267/.356/.397 with four homers, 14 RBI and a 22/15 K/BB ratio over 132 plate appearances. He’ll function as extra catching depth for the Orioles.

Gody went unclaimed on waivers and will remain with the Orioles as emergency catching depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

Godoy was up with the Orioles for exactly one game and will head back to the minors with Anthony Bemboom taking his spot on Baltimore’s active roster.

Godoy was acquired from the Yankees earlier this month in a trade and will get the call to Baltimore with backup catcher James McCann landing on the injured list with a left ankle sprain. The 28-year-old journeyman has gotten into 26 games over the last two seasons between three different organizations.

The 28-year-old backstop has appeared in just 11 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season -- slashing .270/.342/.514 with three homers and seven RBI in 41 plate appearances. He’ll add catching depth in the upper minors for the Orioles.

With top catching prospect Austin Wells and Ben Rortvedt out with injuries, the Yankees desperately needed to add some catching depth for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Godoy was released by the Angels earlier this month and has quickly found a new opportunity. The 28-year-old backstop got into 22 games last year between the Pirates and Twins.

It sounds like the Angels knew that Godoy wasn’t going to crack the Opening Day roster and wanted to give him an opportunity to latch on elsewhere if he could. The 28-year-old was 2-for-6 (.333) with a pair of runs scored and three RBI in his limited Cactus League action.
