Brewers acquired RHP Joseph Hernandez from the Mariners for RHP Justin Topa.
Hernandez, 22, was signed out of the Dominican Republic as an 18-year-old in 2018. He spent the 2022 season at Single-A Modesto where he registered a 3.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 143/54 K/BB ratio over 116 2/3 innings in 24 appearances (22 starts). He’s an intriguing young arm and is likely to begin the 2023 season at the Double-A level.
